New Project: NEXTransit Downtown
The purpose of the downtown network study project is to reconfigure PRT’s downtown bus routing to accommodate upcoming changes due to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, as well as generally making downtown transit routing more efficient, streamlined, and easy to understand.
E. Holdings, Inc., has joined Michael Baker International to provide public outreach and engagement services. There will be three rounds of community engagement with extensive opportunities for the public to participate, including via roving street teams, focus groups, comment cards, and traditional public meetings.
As part of the first round of engagement our project team has talked to over 400 people through a combination of public meetings, pop-up input events, and an online survey and input map. The goals of the first round of public engagement were to educate the public about the project and the impacts of the BRT project on Downtown bus patterns and collect feedback from transit riders about current experiences taking transit in Downtown. The results of the input gathered will be synthesized and used to help guide the next phase of the project; preliminary route planning for Downtown.
