“Build A Part Of History” Outreach Campaign
E. Holdings played a major role in promoting inclusion in the construction of the August Wilson Center for African American Culture by developing the “Building a Part of History” initiative. E. Holdings worked closely with the Center’s marketing department to recruit diverse prime and sub-contractors through a comprehensive outreach program which included: a series of meetings held throughout the City of Pittsburgh, candidate sessions and referrals to prime and sub-contractors or relevant trade unions, and continuous monitoring and follow-up with candidates, contractors, and the trade unions to ensure diversity during the construction process.
The August Wilson Center is much more than a museum; it is a state-of-the-art, multi-disciplinary regional asset that addressed the significant need to celebrate the rich history and culture of African Americans in the City of Pittsburgh. The Center is reflective of all aspects of African American culture and includes galleries, classrooms, a 500-seat theater, a gift shop, a café, and many multi-purpose spaces used for the visual and performing arts.
